VOLUNTEER WITH US AND HELP FAMILIES WHEN THEY NEED IT MOST
We need you. Our work is only possible because of the time, care, and commitment of our volunteers across the North East.
Volunteering with Feeding Families is a practical way to support families facing food insecurity. Whether you are packing food boxes, helping with deliveries, or supporting collections and fundraising, your time helps ensure families do not face hunger alone.
You can find our current volunteering opportunities below.
VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

Packing Food Boxes
Support our packing centres by helping prepare food boxes for families in crisis. This role is hands on and plays a vital part in getting food out quickly and with care..

Driving and Deliveries
Help deliver food boxes to partners or directly to households where needed. This role supports families who may not be able to collect food themselves.

Food Collections
Support local food collections at schools, workplaces, supermarkets, and community venues. This role helps keep our shelves stocked with essential items.

Fundraising Support
Help with fundraising activities, events, or campaigns throughout the year. This can include supporting collections, events, or community fundraising efforts.
VOLUNTEERING AS A GROUP OR CORPORATE TEAM
We also welcome groups from organisations, businesses, and community groups. Group sessions are a great way to build teamwork while giving back to the local community. Activities are similar to individual volunteering, focusing on sorting, packing, and preparing materials for food distribution.
NOT SURE WHICH ROLE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
If you are interested in volunteering but are unsure which opportunity would suit you best, please get in touch. We are happy to talk through the options and help find a role that fits your time, skills, and interests.

HOW VOLUNTEERING WORKS
Registering and choosing sessions.
To volunteer with Feeding Families, you will need to register through our volunteering system.
Once registered, you will be given access to our volunteering app, Volunteero. The app allows you to view and sign up for available volunteering sessions on your phone or tablet, based on your availability.
Volunteering code of conduct
All volunteers are expected to follow our Volunteer Code of Conduct. This helps ensure everyone involved in our work feels safe, supported, and respected.
Staying in touch.
From time to time, if you are registered and onboarded, we may contact you with updates or information about upcoming volunteering opportunities or events. You will have the option to opt out of these communications during registration if you prefer.
If you have any questions about volunteering or the Volunteero app please contact ruth@feedingfamilies.org.uk.
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: SARAH'S INSPIRING JOURNEY

This lovely lady has been brightening lives through volunteering with Feeding Families for over three years!
Sarah has many great passions - teaching, baking, and the great outdoors (not to mention her adorable dogs, Lenny and Elsie!) - and she truly believes that food is a basic human right.
Feeding Families wouldn’t be where it is without Sarah, our amazing van driver with over 300 hours of service, zipping around the North East to deliver food boxes. She’s the friendly face of our charity, building fantastic relationships with our partners. And let’s not forget her loyal sidekick, Elsie - winning over everyone she meets with her endless affection.
It all started with a chance visit, and now Sarah’s making a BIG impact in her community!
If you’ve been thinking about volunteering, take it from her:

You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain!.
