My Story
Hi, I’m Julie, founding director from H2H, you can read my story here. Sorting laundry with my 18 month old grandchild was a joyful adventure. Diving into the washing basket, matching socks and folding shirts that were almost as tall she was, giggling all the while. This simple joy is encapsulated by my peach coloured Boss T-shirt that says, “Collect moments, not things.”
It reminds me to treasure precious moments because life can change in an instant.
This became painfully clear when I found my husband dead on the sofa, with no warning or chance to say goodbye. My world shattered, and I was plunged into a darkness I couldn’t escape. The days, weeks, and months that followed were filled with music, writing, and seeking comfort from anyone who would hug me. Music became a crucial part of my healing process, reflecting my moods and helping me reclaim happy memories amidst the pain.
Journaling was another lifeline, a way to release my emotions and make sense of my heartbreak. Initially, my entries were filled with pain, tears, and exhaustion, but looking back, I also see moments of joy. I learned that emotions are exhausting and that it’s okay to have conflicting feelings. My journal was my heart with ears, allowing me to be heard without judgment.
A turning point came when I discovered “The Grief Recovery Handbook.” This book, and the program it described, saved my sanity. Working through the action program with an experienced guide transformed my life. I realised that to heal, I needed to actively process my emotions, not just write about them.
Reflecting on my journey, I see how vital it is to have the right tools for emotional well-being. If I had known then what I know now, my life could have been very different. This realisation drives me to help others navigate their grief and loss.
If you’re struggling with loss, I’m here to help you heal and find emotional well-being. Let’s take this journey together—reach out and start healing today.
